The Cachers

Full Name: Ana

Geocaching Screen Name: anaddicted23

Age: hah - I will be 30 on my next birthday - again

Birth State: Florida

Martial Status: Married

How did you get into geocaching?
A friend of mine in the military had a brother in law who was caching with his sons and she told me about it one night while on a fourteen hour shift. The next day she got me the website and within a month I had already bought a GPS.

What's the meaning behind the screen name?
My first name is Ana and well, I guess you can say, I'm addicted and 23 is my favorite number thanks to Michael Jordan

Do you cache alone or are you part of a team?
Well, I rarely cache alone, but I'm not part of a team. I take different people with me - basically whoever I can find. Sometimes members of my family, sometimes coworkers, other times, other cachers.

How many caches have you found and how many have you hidden?
found 1860 and hidden 20

Have you cached in other states or countries?
And if so, how do those caches compare with caches you have found here?

Yes I've cached in other countries and other states. Our terrain rating here is different. In PA, a 2.5 means you'll be climbing a mountain and it will take some time. That would be like a 4 here.

Besides geocaching, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Sleeping, reading, fishing, and the beach

What kind of wildlife have you encountered while geocaching?
Different birds - hawks are my favorites to see. Gators, turtles, tortoises, snakes (hate them), wild boars, deer, wild dogs, feral cats.

What advice would you offer new geocachers/hiders?
Don't just go for a cache because you've made the drive or the hike. If there are muggles around, don't risk the cache and move on.

What do you say when muggles ask what you are doing?
I'm not good at this at all. Mostly we say we are looking for snakes (yeah right). Very rarely I say we are on a scavenger hunt. Other times we are looking for our poor lost puppy

What is your favorite cache container?
The bigger the better

What is the strangest thing you have ever found in the cache?
A thong seems to stick out of my mind first

What was your most memorable caching find/experience?
Our first cache. My husband stepped in raccoon poop, but I think it could also be the Virginia key paddle. 10 miles on a canoe that took forever. My arms didn't want to move for two days afterwards.

Urban hides, love em or hate em?
Depends. If they are in a busy street corner, I hate them. If they are somewhat hidden, I love them.

Are you planning on attending Cacheapalooza 4 in December?
And what would you like to see more of at the event?

Of course I will be there. There is nothing I would change about it. Maybe easier hides for the kids that don't involve too much walking or anything too dangerous.

And finally, Garmin or Magellan?
I have one magellan and two garmins. I think I prefer my magellan, but now I'm only using the garmin - go figure.
