Name: Ed Julian
Geocaching Screen Name: Jellyfish
Birth State: Up North
Martial Status: Married
How did you get into geocaching?
My manager at work, Palm City Explorers, told me about Geocaching
back in the spring of 2003. I looked up the web site and loved the
idea. A great way to get the kids out and moving and a great way
to see parts of the world that I would not normally go to.
What's the meaning behind the screen name?
When I was signing up at GC.com, I was asked for a user name. I
couldn't think of one so I asked my wife and she said "Jellyfish"
Which was her password at work at the time. And the rest is history.
: )
Do you cache alone or are you part of a team?
The family used to cache together, but for the last year or so,
I have been caching alone. Unless I'm with a group of other cachers.
How many caches have you found and how many have you hidden?
Found: 1120 Hidden: 11
Have you cached in other states or countries?
And if so, how do those caches compare with caches you have found
here?
States I've Geocached in: New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware,
Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Florida, Louisiana,
Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Nevada, North Carolina, South
Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin, New Mexico & California. Countries
I've Geocached in: USA, Australia, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan, China,
Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, Denmark & Sweden. Caching in others states
is about the same. But caching overseas is a lot different.
Besides geocaching, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Working on the house, computers, concerts, looking up where to cache
next, pathtags.
What kind of wildlife have you encountered while geocaching?
Everything from spiders to bees, to deer, to dogs, to raccoons,
to opossums, to alligators.
What advice would you offer new geocachers/hiders?
It's a game. Have fun!
What do you say when muggles ask what you are doing?
That I'm playing a treasure hunting game or that I doing a coordinates
survey for the government. Depends on who it is.
What is your favorite cache container?
Depends on the setting. Urban versus rural. But that said, I have
liked every cache that I have found.
What is the strangest thing you have ever found in the cache?
Because this is a family friendly forum, I can't say. Contact me
off-line if you really want to know. ;)
What was your most memorable caching find/experience?
View Carre' GCE02C. In New Orleans. I took a group of non-cachers
from New Jersey, Florida, California, Israel, Australia, and Germany
with me for the find which on top of a thirty + story building that
overlooks the French Quarter. What a view!!
