The Cachers

Full Name: Tom & Shari

Geocaching Screen Name: SticksAllore: Sticks & SkaryShari

Age: 45 & 48

Birth State: Michigan & Pennsylvania

Martial Status: Married

How did you get into geocaching?
We bought a GPS for our Section Hikes on the Appalachian Trail that had a geocaching icon on it, we followed the directions and the rest is history.

What's the meaning behind the screen name?
I'm a drummer and was in my ship's rock band while I was in the Navy. When I signed up on geocaching.com I though that this would be a log-in name and by the time we wanted to change it to Sticks & SkaryShari it was to late to change it or redo all the logs.

Do you cache alone or are you part of a team? A team

How many caches have you found and how many have you hidden? 1048/39

Have you cached in other states or countries?
And if so, how do those caches compare with caches you have found here?

We've cached in primarily the Southeastern U.S. States and along the Appalachian Trail. The caches on the trail are pretty hard to find due to poor signals and terrain. But other than that they're much the same.

Besides geocaching, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
We are currently section hiking the Appalachian Trail (360 miles complete). Biking, Music and Mayhem.

What kind of wildlife have you encountered while geocaching?
Deer, Wild Pigs, Snakes and other various critters.

What advice would you offer new geocachers/hiders?
Find at least a 100 caches before you start hiding them.

What do you say when muggles ask what you are doing?
It depends, sometimes we say we are playing a game or sometimes we say we are looking for something. If it is law enforcement, we usually explain geocaching to them, most of the time they have heard of it.

What is your favorite cache container? Ammo cans, definitely!

What is the strangest thing you have ever found in the cache?
Bad B Movies, haven't found too many strange items yet.

What was your most memorable caching find/experience?
Hiking the Appalachian Trail, we have found over 40 caches along the AT, but Max Patch Mt. (a bald in NC) is by far the most impressive sight thus far. If you ever have the chance, go for it!

Urban hides, love em or hate em? Love'em!

Are you planning on attending Cacheapalooza 4 in December?
And what would you like to see more of at the event?
Yes, we'll be there.

And finally, Garmin or Magellan? Garmin!
