Full Name: Becky and Adrianna "AJ" Cecere, Rob and Clay Douma
Geocaching Screen Name: Team CeDo
Age: Becky & Rob-35, AJ is 8 and Clay is 4
Birth State: Becky: California Rob, AJ & Clay: Florida
Martial Status: engaged
How did you get into geocaching?
Becky was working for a podiatrist in Sarasota and the one of the
doctors aunt who was the medical assistant at that time told us
about geocaching, and from there it is history.
What's the meaning behind the screen name?
Since Becky and AJ's last name is Cecere and Rob and Clay's last
name is Douma we took the Ce & Do from our last names and came up
with Team CeDo
Do you cache alone or are you part of a team?
team, however AJ has decided that she is old enough now to have
her own name so she also goes by Star*08
How many caches have you found and how many have you hidden?
as of today 02/13/09 Found 1092 and Hidden 61
Have you cached in other states or countries?
And if so, how do those caches compare with caches you have found
here?
We have cached in Florida, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. One of the
caches we did in Grand Cayman was a grandfathered in virtual which
was neat because you had to take a picture of yourself in HELL,
Grand Cayman so we have cool pictures with the devil himself, other
than that they were interesting because they brought you to significant
cultural areas that have rich history behind the area where the
cache was placed
Besides geocaching, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Hiking, biking, fishing, boating, camping with or without the RV,
going off roading, arts & crafts, traveling, playing Wii and video
games and of course spending time together as a family!!!
What kind of wildlife have you encountered while geocaching?
wild boars, snakes of all kinds, lots of deer, wild turkeys, bobcat,
horses, cows, gators, skunk ape, tons of different species of birds,
bald eagles, Canadians, manatees, demonic looking spiders, bats,
armadillos, raccoons, goats, fish and flying squirrels
What advice would you offer new geocachers/hiders?
For new cachers: just because you cant find it doesn't mean that
it is not there and that a maintenance log needs to be sent to the
cache owner-KEEP LOOKING!! Please do not KEEP travel bugs or geocoins
as people have spent lots of money for these items and a lot of
these items have a very special meaning to the owners, who are kind
enough to share their special traveling item with the rest of us.
For hiding caches: please put some time and effort into your hiding
location, container choice, etc... make sure there is a special
meaning behind why you are placing a cache there and tell others
why that place is significant to you. Be creative, don't use the
same type of container over and over.
What do you say when muggles ask what you are doing?
Depending upon the type of person we come across... if they look
like they would never understand what we are doing then we pretend
like we lost something, the kids toys, a dog, the kids, contact,
etc, etc. If they look like they will understand what we are doing
then we explain to them about geocaching. Turns out most of the
people we tell the truth about what we are doing have heard about
geocaching before.
What is your favorite cache container?
a fake squirrel in a tree
What is the strangest thing you have ever found in the cache?
Multiple decks of cards where you had to put the cards in the correct
order to come up with the coords to the next stage of the cache-
very clever ** you know who you are :) funny man
What was your most memorable caching find/experience?
Hiking the Gilley Tract near Lake Manatee in Bradenton, FL. Visit:
http://www.infinitempg.com/gilley.htm there are 30+ caches out there.
Our favorite was "Nowhere More Amazing" GC11AZ1. Our second favorite
is "Hole in the Wall" GCZ62R, it is a very unique area we had no
idea that something like this existed here in FL
Urban hides, love em or hate em?
in between, Rob and I love hiking, however we have 2 small children
so we like finding urban caches with the kids, once they get older
we will be able to hike with them more (we hope)
Are you planning on attending Cacheapalooza 4 in December?
And what would you like to see more of at the event? Yes we
will definitely be there. More beer??? Really, you all have done
just an INCREDIBLE JOB!! each year we have attended. I wouldn't
change a thing. You all have everything very well planned out and
organized and we thank you very much for all of your time, effort
and hard work it takes to put on such a big, exciting and wonderful
event!!!!
